Intensive Outpatient Treatment at Dana Paint Rehab Campus

Our treatment consultants are available to help 24/7.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is next step after completing a residential inpatient program at Dana Point Rehab Campus. The purpose of an IOP is to continue consistent treatment while allowing people to have the flexibility to manage their other life obligations such as family, school and employment responsibilities. Having the ability to work, continue your education and interacting with supportive family and friends are all important facets of enjoying a meaningful life.

In outpatient care, Dana Point Rehab Campus patients have access to many of the same valuable programs offered in our residential treatment programs, including individual and group therapy, personal counseling, and non-traditional therapy and treatment services. With the guidance from our professionals, patients in IOP will learn how to apply real-world coping techniques in their daily lives to maintain their goals and prevent relapse.

IOP patients at Dana Point Rehab Campus will work on the following essential treatment areas while in outpatient care:

  • Recovery Goal Setting
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Addiction Education
  • Triggers and Coping Mechanisms
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Mindfulness, Spirituality, and Meditation
  • Career and Job-related Skills
  • Maintaining Healthy Relationships
  • Identifying Codependency Issues
  • Building Self-Esteem
  • Managing Stress

Components of IOP

Substance Abuse Education

Both legal and illegal drugs have a variety of chemicals that change how your body and mind work. There are ten major organ systems in the human body. It’s not surprising to learn drug and alcohol abuse affects each organ negatively. When your organs are damaged, you risk dangerous chronic conditions and in some severe cases of addiction – death.

Knowing precisely the way drugs and alcohol affect the human body empowers people to examine how and why their bodies respond in certain ways to certain substances. In this informative program, patients also learn how family, social and professional relationships are impacted and destroyed by addiction.

Our instructional sessions provide an opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the causes of addiction and how these personally apply to you and your situation. Information is power. This education treatment adds yet another layer of learning to each patient’s personal, knowledge-based recovery plan.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

At Dana Point Rehab Campus CBT and REBT are forms of treatment focusing on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Sometimes referred to as “talk therapy,” these techniques, under the guidance of an experienced therapist, uncover many of the unconscious, negative beliefs that may have led to addiction. Negative thoughts such as these may be why many addicts in recovery fall into the lapse/relapse cycle. To avoid the trap of this cycle, as you ‘deprogram’ negative beliefs by revealing and recognizing them, you will learn new thought processes leading to healthier activities and a positive perspective on life.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling at Dana Point Rehab Campus includes face-to-face discussions between patients and counselors on a variety of issues identified in the patient’s treatment plan. In some cases, individual counseling may consist of spouses, parents, siblings and other people who are deemed valuable in the patient’s recovery.

Group Counseling

Like individual counseling, group counseling includes face-to-face sessions with a Dana Point Rehab counselor. However, in group counseling, two or more patients in the treatment program will be added based on the needs of each patient. Many find comfort in knowing that they are not alone on this recovery journey and others are there going through the same treatments, sessions, and range of emotions.

Benefits of an Outpatient Program

Establish healthy routines.

IOP provides an environment for our patients to independently live as they attend weekly rehab treatments. Some may need more structure to their rehab program; however, many find the IOP program at Dana Point Rehab Campus is the perfect amount of time in sessions to put the healthy living lessons learned in rehab into real-life action when you walk out the door.

Find flexibility, affordability.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program can be a more affordable option for people needing intensive treatment but need to maintain their household duties and job responsibilities as well as keep an eye on their budget. Unlike residential inpatient treatment, IOP gives flexibility in treatment options. You can still receive the same intensive care, quality services, and cutting-edge treatments even if you are not able to commit to residential treatment.

Get support from YOUR community.

Your network of friends and mentors who are also working towards recovery and life-long sobriety helps you on your journey. Their support, encouragement, love, and accountability boost your self-esteem and quality of life.

Insurance and IOP Treatment

Paying for intensive outpatient treatment may seem impossible, but it can be very affordable. You can check to see if your private insurance provider will help cover the cost of IOP. Depending on the details of your health insurance plan, you might be able to apply your benefits to help cover the cost of care. Our Dana Point Rehab advisors will be able to verify the details of your insurance coverage as it relates to our intensive outpatient treatment program.

We See You For You

At Dana Point Rehab Campus, each patient’s individuality is top of mind in delivering the highest level of care. We see every patient as an individual. In keeping with this commitment, our evidence-based therapies and interventions track specifically to the needs and progress of each patient, providing therapeutic modalities and resources that serve their specific goals.

Dual Diagnosis Program

It can take time to truly understand what mental disorder a patient may have and what behavior is tied to the drug or alcohol problem. What makes identifying the real root of the problem is that the signs and symptoms vary depending upon the mental health problem and the type of substance being abused. With the right treatment plan developed by our experienced, licensed clinicians, you can overcome a co-occurring disorder, reclaim your life and get back on track.

Mental health issues and substance abuse and addiction usually go hand in hand.
Below are a few mental health issues that co-occur with addiction:

Anxiety
Bipolar Disorder
Depression

Mood Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Relapse Prevention

Addiction can be difficult to beat, and relapse may happen. If it happens to you or someone you love, it’s not impossible to get back on track. We believe in the phrase “no one goes it alone,” and it resonates loudly in our relapse prevention program. In our relapse program at Dana Point Rehab Campus, we’ll carefully examine where you got off track, work on strengthening your resolve, building your resiliency, and finding the support you need to take another brave step on your journey of finding a life of sobriety.
